The 36km Bivouac Descent is the longest and most comprehensive version of the bivouac trip in the Ardèche Gorges! Reserved for motivated paddlers, this 2-day experience combines physical exertion, thrills, and total immersion in the Ardèche countryside. Starting from the top of the gorges, you’ll paddle 36km through dynamic rapids and natural slides (weirs), with the goal of camping under the stars.

Estimated duration: 2 days. Level: Sporty, ideal for adventurers already comfortable with canoeing and kayaking. The route offers unique views of limestone cliffs, secluded beaches, and rich biodiversity in the heart of the gorges, for a more intense and complete experience than the classic 30km descent.

The bivouac site entrance fee is not included.

The starting base is that for the descent, given for information purposes only. You must first go to the Viking Bateaux Pavilion (see access map), from where you will be taken to the corresponding pier.

Designed for motivated paddlers, this two-day descent offers total immersion in a pristine natural setting, featuring dynamic rapids, natural slides, and playful weir crossings. Starting from the top of the gorges, you’ll paddle 36km of exhilarating adventures, alternating between physical exertion and moments of contemplation, before reaching a wild bivouac under the stars.

During this experience, you’ll navigate through the heart of the nature reserve, discovering impressive cliffs, secluded beaches, and protected wildlife, offering a complete immersion in the richness of the Ardèche region. The full 36km descent combines adventure, technical skill, and pure enjoyment, for a truly immersive bivouac experience, far removed from the typical routes.
